Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working with NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She earned an Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. In 1967 Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976 she became a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). The following year, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. Mitchell was named chief White House correspondent by NBC News in 1992. Mitchell appeared as both a host and panelist in the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist at the debates in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in journalism. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's initial White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. She covered many notable reports, including weapons control, the budget tax as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended various summits while in the company of the President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
